In Australia we employ more than 400 across the ACT, QLD, NSW, SA and VIC. About the Role We are seeking an experienced Strategic Commercial Manager to support our business growth, with the role able to be based at any of our offices located in Brisbane, Canberra or Melbourne. This role is responsible to the GM Commercial for providing commercial leadership and strategic advice on QinetiQ Australia’s business winning opportunities as assigned.  The role also provides general commercial support across various business transactions and supports the evolution and development of QinetiQ’s commercial, procurement, estimating, pricing and export control policies, procedures, templates and training, including the assurance of adherence to functional governance requirements at the corporate, business domain, and project levels.As the Strategic Commercial Manager you will act as the Commercial Lead on key business winning opportunities as assigned, leading a small team of commercial specialists and working as part of an integrated bid team, to develop the commercial solution and provide strategic guidance and commercial expertise in accordance with QinetiQ’s Commercial, Procurement, Export Compliance, Risk Management, Estimating, Pricing, Finance and other related policies and practices. This includes:Analysing and evaluating commercial risks in proposed commercial transactions;Developing subcontracts and determining appropriate flow-down of prime contract clauses to subcontractors.Leading the writing of the commercial and financial aspects of tender responses and providing commercial inputs to other areas as assigned.Where directed, leading or participating in proposal clarification and negotiation processes.Developing and reviewing other related commercial transaction documents, including confidentiality deeds, teaming agreements, supplier terms and export related agreements.Outside of key business winning opportunities, the role will also provide general commercial advice and support to QinetiQ Australia’s business groups in the establishment and management of existing contracts and other commercial transactions.  The Strategic Commercial Manager will also provide support to GM Commercial in the evolution and development of QinetiQ’s Commercial, Procurement, Estimating, Pricing and Export Control policy framework, including the assurance of adherence to functional governance requirements and identifying opportunities for improvement and/or efficiencies.  To be successful in this role, you will be a consummate professional who possesses the following:Demonstrated experience working in a commercial contracting environment, preferably in pre-contract award stages, with previous experience within the defence industry environment or working on complex Government capital projects highly desirable.A successful track record in analysing, developing and negotiating contracts of medium to high risk/complexity.Commercial acumen coupled with an acute ability for risk mitigation.Effective communication skills across all levels, both with internal and external stakeholders, including strong written skills for the drafting of bids, proposals, reports and contract clauses.Ability to negotiate effectively and express views appropriately in a group environment, including at senior management levels.
